Spartan join EnOcean Alliance

Spartan Peripheral Devices joins EnOcean Alliance to promote benefits of sustainable buildings

Spartan Peripheral Devices joined the EnOcean Alliance in November 2009. The EnOcean Alliance is a consortium of over 100 companies worldwide from the building sector with the aim of promoting and establishing innovative automation solutions for sustainable buildings - and so to make buildings more energy-efficient, more flexible and lower cost. The core technology of the Alliance is self-powered wireless technology from EnOcean for flexibly positioned and service-free sensor solutions.

“The EnOcean Alliance provides a great opportunity for Spartan Peripheral Devices to promote our innovative products”, said Alexandre Leneveu, Vice-President Spartan Peripheral Devices. “We are contributing to the interoperable technology eco-system by developing a control valve actuator and specially created operating system for hot and chilled water control applications.”

Interoperable communication

All products which use EnOcean technology are interoperable, working together in building automation systems. This means it is possible to combine a receiver from manufacturer A with a sensor from manufacturer B and a sensor from manufacturer C performing the same function. The members of the EnOcean Alliance are currently offering some 350 different products based on EnOcean technology. All these solutions already work by firmly defined Alliance profiles, making them interoperable.

EnOcean Alliance Forum

The EnOcean Alliance Forum is offering “port of call” to all users of EnOcean self-powered wireless technology. The forum has a suitable answer to any question on EnOcean technology, products or installations. The official forum of the EnOcean Alliance is online in English and German. If you have a question you can benefit from the wide-ranging knowledge of EnOcean Alliance members, developers, installers and product manufacturers.

Spartan Peripheral Devices’ V411 and V431 Universal 2-way and 3-way valve bodies have been specifically designed as the perfect response to customers’ requests for reduced inventory. This universality also gives the installer an opportunity to easily make any last minute modifications from a 2-way to a 3-way body if constant flow or bypass relief is required.
We are often asked a question if this was the best thing to do; that is using a bottom or side plug or flange to convert a 3-way in to a 2-way. In fact, all valve bodies are closed with a top or bottom flange after the internals are installed. The variations in the look of the valve cavity vary from manufacturer to manufacturer depending on how the valve seat, plug, stem and packing are designed.  For example:  a VB8213 series Invensys or Schneider Electric have a bottom blind flange installed on a 2-way valve body. Many others do the same thing in different ways.
Spartan Peripheral Devices designed this universality right from the start. The bottom portion of the valve plunger required for 3-way valves is always assembled in the body and even if it is not used in the 2-way valve the plunger bottom portion acts as a guide. Guided plugs are featured in the industrial valve bodies to prevent vibration at extreme differential pressures.
Many other features are included in our commercial valve body product line.
